One of house music?s men of the moment, Langenberg returns to Dessous with a spinetingling new EP. Already well know for his previous offerings on the label, alongside cuts on Liebe*Detail, Drumpoet or the MIld Pitch imprint run with Manuel Tur and Dplay, the man from Essen is on ?slow burning? fire at present! Lead cut ?Past Present? bristles with tough analog energy as a pushing solid state drum pattern opens into a rousing bassline-led theme. Moody, utterly deep and shining with reverence for the classic days of Chicago, its a casual bomb that makes no promises, but fulfills all of your dreams. A special dub mix is also available as a digital exclusive. ?Backyard? is a slower grooving beast, with complex dub arrangements and yet again a heavy, warm sound aesthetic. Capturing a unique heady vibe and simply rolling with it, delayed spaced-out chambers grow and recede in this nonchalant groove tool. On a more restless, tricky tip, ?Monday 16th? is served up with a healthy dose of funk and yet more classic-inspired deep house chord play. Perfect for the not-so-far-away summer sessions, its a lovely closing moment, affirming the message that Langenberg?s house is open to everyone.
